From Destination to Micro Weddings

July 9, 2020

Micro weddings: are they simply a response to COVID-19, a necessity during unprecedented times? Or, perhaps, are they a new trend that may become conventional? Here at Bespoke Floral and Event Design, we are helping brides shape their previous wedding plans to fit the needs of the international pandemic. We are considering these reshapings “micro weddings.” We sat down with one of our micro wedding brides, Nicole, to get her take on rearranging her destination wedding to a more local affair, and to get a glimpse at how Bespoke is helping her in the process.

Nicole and her fiance, Paul, first crossed paths when they were teenagers. Her father and Paul’s uncle were (and still are) good friends. Years later, the two crossed paths again but, this time, on Tinder. Nicole said that they “instantly knew they had to go out on a date.” Their first date was at Kona Grill and, after that, the two made sure their paths never steered from each other. After five years and creating a life together in Manalapan, New Jersey, Nicole and Paul planned a destination wedding to Aruba for August 8, 2020. The ceremony was set at the Hilton on the beach during sunset and the reception was going to take place at Faro Blanco. Nicole explained that she and Paul were devastated they were forced to change their original wedding plans due to COVID, however, she also said that they continued to stay positive these past few months and their “love for one another has only become stronger.”

With their optimistic attitudes, Nicole and Paul searched for a new game plan for their wedding. This is where Bespoke comes into play. Not only is Bespoke helping with the florals, but Nicole and Paul also took advantage of one of our wedding planning packages as well. When we asked Nicole to explain what it has been like working with Scott and Rondineli, she said, “The moment we met Scott, we instantly felt at ease! He is by far one of the best wedding planners we have ever encountered. Scott is truly a life saver and we could not have asked for a better experience. We inquired about our wedding only about a month before our wedding date and were stressed beyond belief. Scott made sure we had all of our vendors in order and went above and beyond to assist us. When meeting Ron, we were so happy to learn that he also was genuine and his number one priority is to make our wedding day the most special and beautiful day of our lives. Ron is very kind and personable, and we felt it was so easy to build a connection with him. Scott and Ron truly exceeded our expectations.”

The new date for the future Mr. and Mrs. is July 25, 2020. The ceremony and reception will take place at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge in Millstone, New Jersey. This updated wedding will be different, more intimate even, as Nicole and Paul’s bridal party, as well as their immediate family, will be the guests in attendance. Bespoke will be designing all of the floral arrangements for the couple’s ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. For this July wedding, the color scheme is sage green, blush, and white, with gold as an accent color. The flowers will include a blend of Playa Blanca Roses, white hydrangeas, blush pink sweet Escimo Roses, lisianthus, and spray roses. Nicole exclaimed that she and Paul “cannot wait to see the flowers on our sweetheart table!”

After the wedding, the couple will be enjoying a mini honeymoon in Las Vegas. They also plan to start a family this summer and are hoping to visit the beautiful island of Aruba next year for their one year anniversary.

Finally, Nicole said that she and Paul are “blessed and forever grateful for both Scott and Ron!” and that she “cannot thank them enough for all they have done and will continue to do for us on our big day!” From all of us here at Bespoke, we are beyond excited for the two of you and are happy to be an integral part of your wedding day!

Meet The Owners

June 11, 2020

wedding plannerScott, co-owner of Bespoke Floral and Event Design, was born and raised in the Tri-State Area, specifically in Marlboro, NJ. Knowing he had a knack for corporate event planning, Scott attended the University of Delaware and majored in business. Before realizing his gift for weddings, Scott entered the social sector of events via catering. Through his catering experience, Scott became interested in wedding planning. When asked, “What inspired you to create your own wedding planning business?”, he explained, “Weddings are the only time you can get everyone close to you in the same place: friends, family etc. I found a passion for taking our brides on a creative journey and helping them create a perfectly curated wedding.”

This passion continued to grow, as did another, when mutual friends introduced Scott to his partner in life, and in business, Rondineli Oliveira. Scott and Rondineli were married on April 17, 2016 at the Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange, NJ. They planned the wedding themselves, and created and designed all of the floral pieces, incorporating lots of whites and greenery. The couple now reside at the Jersey Shore and NYC with their two dogs, Baker and Charlie.

Rondineli, born in Brazil, has been in the floral design business for years and shares in Scott’s passion for the wedding industry. He and Scott decided they had a good thing going, and with their background in similar areas, they combined their creative passions and expertise to create Bespoke. Scott said, “The idea behind Bespoke is using our life experiences, our knowledge, our love for food and travel, and our journey as a couple to help seamlessly design and plan weddings and events for our clients.”

Though Scott loves all seasons, his favorite weddings to plan are those in early June. He and Rondineli look to use garden roses and peonies, combined with lots of whites, ivories, champagne, and greenery. Out of all of the services that Bespoke offers, Scott’s favorite pieces end up being the floral chandeliers, a unique feature that all guests and clients admire throughout the day of the wedding or event.

When looking towards the future, Scott explained that he and Rondineli are looking forward to weddings starting again. They miss the designing and planning, and they miss their brides! He said that “2020 has been a tough year for brides and we know that once weddings begin again, we will help create a more positive outlook for the wedding industry as a whole and our wedding venue partners.”

Comfort and Ease: An October Bespoke Bride Shares Her Experience

May 20, 2020

Lauren and Jimmy met at The University of Delaware even though they only lived a town apart their whole lives. Lauren was a Jets fan and one day, Jimmy, wearing a Jets hat, caught Lauren’s eye. Conversation started, romance sparked and the rest, according to Lauren, “is history.”

How Did Lauren and Jimmy Get Engaged?

Years later, and after moving into their new home together, Jimmy woke Lauren up at the crack of dawn one morning, wearing the infamous Jets hat that prompted them to talk in the first place, and then ‘popped the question.’

This was followed by a fun-filled day. First, they picked out a new puppy, River. Then, they went to get massages and Lauren’s nails done. But Jimmy had one final surprise in store: a dinner with their families at Lauren’s aunt’s favorite restaurant that they frequented together before her passing. When Lauren realized which restaurant they were going to, tears filled her eyes. For someone who isn’t easily surprised, Jimmy had made Lauren’s engagement day extra special.

How Did They Plan Their Wedding?

Lauren and Jimmy's wedding design

Lauren said, “Knowing how comfortable he [Scott] made us feel booking our venue, it was a very easy choice to pursue looking into Bespoke and their designs.”

After meeting with Scott and Rondineli (the Master Floral Designer half of Bespoke) in reference to the florals, Lauren stated that she knew the duo “would stop at nothing in order to bring my vision to life. They were just as excited about designing my dream as I was. It was apparent from our very first meeting. Florals were probably the most important part of our decor and overall wedding vibe, but they [Scott and Rondineli] found a way to make me feel at ease and comforted.”

How Can Bespoke Floral Help With Your Wedding Planning?

Bespoke Floral arrangement

Ease, comfort, dependability, and precision are all common themes when working with Bespoke. Scott and Rondineli helped Lauren in choosing neutral flowers, lots of greens, and pale pinks. In fact, Lauren wanted a very specific pale pink and although no one else understood or could even tell the difference, Lauren intimated that Rondineli and Scott played into her “crazy.” They ordered endless pink rose samples until they found the one to fully satisfy Lauren’s dream.

At Bespoke, no vision is “crazy.” Scott and Rondineli can bring any imaginable centerpiece, bouquet, boutonniere, etc. to life. “They are both so knowledgeable. They knew the name of every single flower in the million Pinterest inspiration pictures I sent them. They knew if they would be in bloom, easily accessible, and fitting to my style. They created multiple samples for me, so I felt confident making my final decisions,” said Lauren.

With Bespoke, no matter which experience you choose, it will be just that: an experience. When I asked Lauren what her favorite floral detail from her day was, she exclaimed: “How can I possibly choose one?!” In between photo sessions and getting ready, Lauren would ‘pop in’ to see Rondineli’s progress. She said that each time, she was in awe of how the florals were turning out to be even better than Pinterest or any vision she may have had. She did, finally, choose her favorite designs from the day: the circle arch and the floral chandeliers. Even so, she said that “Every single piece Ron created exceeded expectations.”

Lauren and Jimmy's wedding

Jimmy and Lauren were married at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge on Oct. 5 2019. River was there, too, with his own custom flower collar, created specifically for him by Rondineli and Scott.

Bespoke was with them the day-of-the-wedding for every step, making sure each element and design was executed flawlessly. When it comes to Rondineli and Scott, Lauren said, “Help is an understatement, they guided me start to finish in every last detail.”

Thank you for letting Bespoke be such an integral part of your wedding day. Cheers to the Mr. and Mrs.!
